Did your favorite iPhone or iPad games make the list of this year’s top sellers?
According to newly released statistics from Apple, Angry Birds was the most popular iPhone game of the year, which should probably come as no surprise to anyone.
In fact, Angry Birds Rio, a tie-in to the animated feature Rio, and Angry Birds Seasons, a separate download that features holiday-themed levels, were also in the top 10.
In other words, it was a great year for Angry Birds, but that was not the app that Apple hand-selected as its iPhone game of the year.
That honor went to a game called Tiny Wings, which was also among the top 10 best sellers and created a lot of buzz for its simple yet addicting gameplay style.
Apple also doled out “runners-up” designations to the time management game Tiny Tower and the cute but challenging puzzle game To-Fu 2.
Among the other best-selling iPhone games were Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja, and Doodle Jump.
As for the iPad, Apple called out Contre Jour as the best title, showcasing the unique and captivating art style and smooth framerate that made it one of the most impressive mobile releases this year.
