Report: Taiwan's motherboard makers may have passed their peak

According to a report at DigiTimes, Taiwan’s motherboard industry has suffered a long-term decline in revenue growth despite increasing motherboard shipments and expansion into system products. The publication speculates that motherboard manufacturers in fact may have passed their peak and explore alternative sources of revenue. Most, if not all, of the 18 motherboard companies are generating significant revenues from other products already today. Asustek has even reported that the revenue contribution from its motherboard business is down to just over a third of the company’s total revenues, DigiTimes says.
