Where To Go When You Only Have A Long Weekend

You and your husband or wife just looked at the calendar and realized you have the same long weekend free. Maybe it’s a holiday weekend like Labor Day or Memorial Day, or maybe the heavens just wanted you to get away together. No matter why you have the time off, you know that you better make the most of it. Long weekend trips are hard to plan because you can’t go too far or else you take most of your time off just traveling to your destination. At the same time, dependent upon where you live, there might not be anywhere close to you that can actually be considered a getaway. Romantic or fun, lively or secluded, here are some of the best weekend getaway destinations for you and your loved one.

New Orleans

If you’ve never been to New Orleans, it’s definitely something you have to do before you die. You can probably see everything you want to see in 3-4 days and be totally content. Bourbon Street is a must, but depending on how party-crazy you two are, you might only need to spend one night on the strip. It’s pretty crazy, especially if you go near Mardi-Gras. Besides the commercialized and tourist areas, there is also a ton of culture to find off the beaten path. You’ve got to try the creole cuisine and definitely need to stop into a shop for a Po-boy. The Garden District is filled with homes you only see on TV and you can take a tour of them if you’d life. All of their cemeteries are above ground, so that alone is a site to see. While you’re there, check out the areas that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina along with the dome that sheltered many survivors.

Wisconsin Dells

If you’re just looking to get away and spend some time together, reserve yourselves a cabin in the woods. DellsBooking offers different level cabins as well as rooms in the Alakai Hotel & Suites. You can take part in activities like tubing, fireplaces, local bars, shopping, rock climbing, horseback riding, and zip-lining. If you’re not so adventurous, you can just lock yourself in your private cabin with a bottle of wine and enjoy the great outdoors from afar.

Las Vegas

Another trip that’s not for the faint of heart, Las Vegas is one of the top-rated long-weekend trips in America. Better known as Sin City, you better bring your loved one along if you want to stay in your happy marriage. With world famous shows, restaurants, and of course casinos, Las Vegas is a destination to try out once in your life.

New York City

There’s no way in the world that you’ll be able to see everything that New York City has to offer in just a weekend, but it’s worth a try. There are endless activities, food options, shows, and sites to see in the big apple. If you two enjoy unique cuisine and large crowds, New York is the place to be. The center of just about everything, New York City is another destination you must visit at least once. While you’re there, make sure to hit up all the tourist attractions like Broadway, Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and even Restaurant Row.

Nashville

This could be the best trip of your lives, especially if you’re into country music. Home to everything the country industry has to offer, Nashville is known for it’s incredible nightlife, bars, karaoke, and great company. If you can plan your weekend around the Country Music Festival taking place June 6th-9th in 2019, you won’t be disappointed.

Even if you check in to the hotel downtown, just getting out of the house and away from work for a few days is a vacation. As long as you’re together you’ll have a great time, but why not check it off the bucket list?
