The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) have taken photographs of an erupting volcano.
The ISS is 220 miles high, and the volcano, Sarychev Peak, in the Kuril chain of islands, east of Russia and north of Japan, started to blow its top a week ago.
The team have continued to take photographs during the spectacular eruption and the resulting plumes of ash.
The volcano, according to the Daily Mail, which has some stunning pictures of the eruption, is one of the most active volcanoes in the Kuril chain.
