Covid-19 Patients Allegedly Left to Die in North Korea’s Secret Isolation Camps

Almost a year into the deadly Coronavirus pandemic that has claimed millions of lives globally, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is one of those who declares that his country has been spared with the “ghost disease”. However, according to some sources, residents who have tested positive of the virus were reportedly taken to some secret isolation camps, where they are provided with little to no food or medicine and left to die. The sources also divulged that it is up to the families to provide food and medicines to their relatives who are in quarantine. Allegedly, a lot of the patients in these camps have already died not only from Covid-19 but also due to starvation and other related diseases. Some of the dead bodies believed to be infected have already been incinerated.

In a report from New York Post, Tim Peters, a Christian activist who runs Seoul-based nonprofit Helping Hands Korea, told the South China Morning Post that the sources have reported that patients are suffering at camps near the Chinese border.

Peters disclosed that the North Korean government “is providing absolutely minimal or no food or medicine to those who are interred there. So, it’s up to the families of the quarantined citizens to come to the edge of the camps and bring food to keep quarantined relatives alive along with whatever health-related aids that they can muster.”

David Lee, a Seoul-based pastor who works with North Korean defectors, said refugees have reported cases of people with symptoms “being forced into isolation, or being boarded up in their homes without food or other support and left to die.”
