Wimbledon goes 3D for the first time

Tennis fans, get ready to take your passion to the next dimension. This year’s Wimbledon tournament will be filmed in 3D for the first time, and presented live in 3D theaters around the world.

The stadium has been fitted with the latest technology and professional grade 3D equipment, bringing the iconic tennis match to the same quality as some of the most important golf, basketball, hockey, and baseball matches to date.

The 3D content is being provided by Sony and SuperVision Media, the latter of which is responsible for bringing the match to specially equipped theaters.

“With the live 3D Wimbledon experience available in hundreds of 3D cinemas across the world, many more people will be able to enjoy one of the world’s most iconic sporting events as though they were actually at Wimbledon,” said Sony’s Fujio Nishida.
