Unplugging: Pink Floyd, Prince and Festival Madness

What’s hot in the music world? MXDWN has the Unplugging update right here.

Pink Floyd has announced their intention to re-issue all 14 studio albums including a dank set of live, unreleased and bonus tracks. The albums, all re-mastered for better quality and clarity, will be released separately or in a box set including a photo book.

The special releases will scour across this next year with three different release dates of different featured albums. This is probably for the best, considering all of Pink Floyd at once would be a beautiful sensory overload, even for the most loyal of fans. To save them and the rest, mark Sept. 26, Nov. 7, and Feb 27 of next year on your cannot-miss-these-dates-to-rock-out calendar.

This fall will heat up with an Arcade Fire deluxe edition album/DVD release August 2. The Grammy Award winning album, The Suburbs, will be re-released on the bonus album giving fans extended versions of select songs. The DVD special, directed by Spike Jonze, features a 30-minute short film called “Scenes.” The deluxe package also includes 80 pages of photos and lyrics.

The 2011 lineup for the esteemed Sunset Junction Street Fair in L.A. has finally been announced. The event, to occur August 27-28, features favorites like Melvins, Art Brut, Hanson, The Growlers, and over 20 more. All you peace lovin’ music supporters out there can buy the festival tickets May 14.

Rapper Tyler, the Creator, avid member of Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All had a run-in with the law before his secret show on May 10. The 20-year-old rapper was arrested for, “Disturbing the peace, loitering and skating pass a cop,” that is, according to his twitter page. Although he made it in time for his show at the Troubador, the rapper won’t be singing a tribute to LA’s finest anytime soon.

The New York-unique event, Music to Know (MTK) festival, announced its lineup and two bomb-dot-com headliners: Vampire Weekend and Bright Eyes. The charitable music event is to be held August 13-14 and is sure to stir up the East Hampton community. This promising “cultural escape” will donate $100,000 to local charities. So while it may rock your wallet, it will be sure to rock your music world in return. Tickets are on sale now.

Prince’s already successful tour, “21 Nite Stand” is on the royal hunt for more success; Livenation announced the Forum show will add 5 new show dates to run this weekend and next. The Purple Prince attracts a slew of big names with Whitney Houston and Cedric the Entertainer as just two of the notorious attendees. Tickets are still available for this unforgettable show, check it out at the end of May.
