Syfy plans frakking new Battlestar Galactica spinoff

Frak! Syfy may be planning to create a new spinoff of the popular Battlestar Galactica series.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the potential series would be “a return to the franchise’s space-opera roots.”

“We’re looking for other ways to spin off ‘Battlestar’ beyond ‘Caprica,'” Syfy executive VP pf development Mark Stern told the Reporter.

“That world is so rich. We’re sitting down with (executive producer) Ron Moore and his team. It would not necessarily be a traditional [show].”

Stern explained that the theoretical series would attempt to expand upon the success of Caprica, which has managed to garner impressive ratings with the all important 18-49 demographic.

Meanwhile, Syfy has also confirmed plans to take on the superhero market with its “Three Inches” pilot developed by Fox Studios.

The show reportedly depicts “an underachiever who gains the power to move any object using his mind, but only for a distance of three inches.”

The protagonist then decides to recruit a team of fellow heroes, each with their own “less-than-spectacular” abilities.
