A team of hard-core Duke Nukem fanbois recently invaded a strip club to film their hero in the er, flesh – just moments before a devastating alien attack.
“The Duke: Fate of Humanity is a nod towards the toughest bad-ass of all time. A few minute short about the beginning of an Alien invasion and some heroic, yet questionable motives,” the film’s creators explained in a YouTube post.
“[This was] done by Duke fans to Duke fans as homage to his legacy and as appreciation towards Gearbox for bringing him back! [It was] shot in [a single] day with the Red One Camera.”
As expected, the rather humorous Fate of Humanity has already received positive accolades from the Duke Nukem crew, with George Broussard of 3DRealms calling the film “amazing.”
Meanwhile, Mikey Neumann of Gearbox Software (Creative Director) termed the movie “tasteful” and “strikingly well done.”
So, what’s up next for the Fate of Humanity team?
Well, a rep told RipTen that shooting a full-feature film was certainly a possibility in the future.
“[Of course], we would love nothing more. One with good action would be nice. [Then again], resources are always a problem, though. [We] don’t want to do anything “cheap” looking for Duke. He deserves better ;).”
