Nintendo ignores global meltdown

Japanese video game maker Nintendo turned in an 8.5 percent profit for the year making $2.8 billion for the year ended 31st March.

It’s overseas sales that account for the lion’s share – they represented 87.5 percent of its revenues.

And Nintendo appears to be bullish about the future too, projecting another 7.5 percent rise in profits for its current financial year.

The Wii and the DS continued to power Nintendo’s financial results – it sold nearly 26 million Wiis in the year, and 31 million DS machines.

Nintendo sold 197 million DS games, and 204 million games for the Wii.
