Nintendo creates plan for additional Wii games titles

Japanese firm Nintendo is ready to expand video games for the Wii by third party publishers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, that interviewed the US president of Nintento, external publishing outfits will eventually form 70 percent of the library of games for the popular Wii – currently that figure only stands at 55 percent.

It will start off by letting Electronic Arts release Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 in EUrope and North America, and that will be bundled with the Wii MotionPlus.  Electronic Arts will also sell Grand Slam Tennis in Europe.

The games will debut in early June, the Journal said, and Nintendo will launch its own Sports Resort game which also takes advantage of the MotionPlus in July.

But Nintendo won’t cut the cost of the Wii itself in the USA. It believes that software games will continue to pull sales of the unit. Wall Street Journal (subscription needed).
