Microsoft is poised to launch its Halo Reach multiplayer beta for the Xbox 360.
The beta – which concludes on May 19 – will allow millions of players to experience a “portion” of the game, while offering them an opportunity to test and perfect the multiplayer experience.
According to Microsoft, Halo Reach breaks “new ground” with a host of new content and features, such as weapons, armor abilities, players rewards, customization options and social settings.
Indeed, Russ Frushtick of MTV notes that the beta highlights a number of “dramatic changes” Bungie has made to the franchise.
“Prime among these changes are load-outs and armor abilities. Depending on the game mode, players will be able to choose which weapon and ability they spawn with,” explained Frushtick.
“This grants players the gift of flight with a jet pack or added stealth with invisibility. These types of powers used to be limited to in-game pick-ups, but now everyone has them right from the start of the game, and it really makes a big impact on how the match will play out.”
