This week, break-ups were announced, rumors were refuted, and reunions were scheduled. LCD Soundsystem announced via their website that they will be playing their last show ever April 2nd at Madison Square Garden. The message requested that fans attending the show to dress in white or black and come ready to have fun, saying “if it’s a funeral, let’s have the best funeral ever!” Now being billed as “LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye,” LCD Soundsystem’s final gig will feature performances of rare and never-before-heard tracks with the addition of a choir, a string section and a horn section. Additionally, the band plans to perform with contributors that they have collaborated with throughout their career. No details about those collaborators have been released.
The Gorillaz are not breaking up! The rumors of a Gorillaz split go back to last year when the band was on tour. At that point, Damon Albarn told the Toronto Sun that the group may call it quits at the end of their tour. When asked to confirm or deny the rumors of a breakup, the band’s rep said: “denied, Despite rumors to the contrary, Gorillaz are alive and well and misbehaving in London W10.”
The long-awaited Death From Above 1979 reunion seems to have solidified this week with an announcement from the band stating that they will continue to play shows beyond their initial Coachella 2011 date. “Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied.”
The complete Lollapalooza lineup isn’t set to be released until April, but word has leaked about some of the artists set to perform, including Eminem, Muse and Foo Fighters as headliners. In addition to those three artists, Best Coast, Crystal Castles, Lykke Li and Girl Talk are all set to perform, too. At least three more headliners will be announced soon. Also, Funny or Die, the comedy site, will be performing on the Next Stage this March 15th at 3 p.m. at SXSW. However, instead of their normal comedy show, the performance will be in the form of a Twitter live feed and be hosted by comedy writing partners Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, best known for their work with Reno 911.
Finally, Slash addressed his feud with Axl Rose. The two have not spoken since Rose’s departure in 1996, and Slash says he would be surprised to ever get an apology. Despite the current rift, Slash did share some positive memories with the Daily.

Slash Addresses Feud with Axl Rose: A Guns N’Roses reunion is only an apology away, according to guitarist Slash. The English-born musician expressed that he did not expect an apology from current Guns N’Roses frontman Axl Rose. Slash and Rose have not spoken since the former’s departure in 1996.
