It’s official: Fable III expected to "piss" people off

The overhyped Fable II was a huge disappointment for many gamers, but Fable III may be even worse.

Indeed, Lionhead Studios CEO Peter Molyneux recently warned that the sequel  to the mediocre title will likely “piss” people off.

“There’s some very, very big things happening in Fable,” Molyneux told GameReactor.

“Bigger than you think, and it’s going to really upset people. I’m really scared when I go out and tell people what it is they’re going to get super pissed off, they really are.”

Nicholas Puleo of Co-Optimus responded to the above-mentioned claims by noting that Molyneux had a “long history” of stretching moral grounds and promising to grant players absolute power over a virtual world.

“[However], most times, his vision and hype of it far surpass what can actually be made,” opined Puleo.

“With Fable 3 being ripe for Natal support, considering Lionhead’s ventures with Milo, I have no doubt that there’s going to be some wild and crazy inclusion of Microsoft’s motion and facial recognition platform in Fable 3. But could this be what pisses people off so much?”

Meanwhile, Matt Peckham of PC World speculated that the upcoming news about Fable III was likely Natal-related.

“Is Fable 3 losing the gamepad entirely? Will the game require you work the interface (as it reciprocally ‘works’ you) with your body instead of thumb-nubs and buttons?” wrote Peckham.

“Whatever it is, I hope it’s wild, because what we know about Fable 3’s plot so far isn’t. Fable 3 needs something visionary like a brilliantly executed interface overhaul to upend the way you move from A to Z.”

Project Natal? Fable III? Molyneux exaggerating yet again? Haven’t we been here before?

Yeah, I think I’ll just sit this one out and wait for Bethesda Softworks to announce a new Elder Scrolls game.
Well, one can always hope – perhaps for an E3 2010 announcement?
