These days, fans expect a sequel to a film to be at least as good as the first installment, forget about better than the original. And it looks like the latest Captain America film is at least as good, if not better, than the first.
In the Hollywood Reporter, veteran reviewer Todd McCarthy writes, “A less super Mravel player steps up,” and that “true-blue enthusiasts” of Captain America ”will not be disappointed in this second entry.”
McCarthy continued that “after looking like the odd man out in The Avengers, Steve Rogers gets a new outfit and asserts himself as a likeable figure more than capable of carrying a huge enterprise like this on his muscular frame.”
Variety also proclaims that Winter Soldier is a “surprisingly equal second solo outing. Chockfull of the breathless cliffhangers dictated by the genre, but equally rich in the quiet, tender character moments that made the first film unique among recent Marvel fare, The Winter Soldier should easily keep the franchise gravy train powering through to Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
So it looks like Captain America: The Winter Soldier could be another big hit on Marvel’s roll, and that superhero films should continue to keep going strong until they explode with Avengers: Age of Ultron next year.
By the way, there’s also two teasers for upcoming Marvel movies, not one, but two, and you certainly know by now you better stick around for the whole movie until the lights go up.
