It won’t be long before the next installment of Star Wars goes into production, and as usual, the net is going wild with all kinds of gossip and stories. Nothing’s confirmed at the moment, but we have the feeling official reports will be announced very soon. In the meantime, here are the latest rumors that have been flooding the net.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, with JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan rewriting the screenplay, the original gang of Luke, Leia and Han Solo may have bigger roles in the new film. The story goes that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will be returning to the Star Wars universe, and the earlier draft of the script reportedly focuses more on the children of Luke, Solo and Leia.
If what the Reporter speculates is correct, the children of the original characters will have supporting roles in Episode VII, and then they will have the lead roles in Episdoe VIII and IX. Writer Michael Ardnt (Toy Story 3) was working on the script, but has since left the project, and supposedly this has been over the direction the story has been taking since Abrams and Kasdan took over.
Actors that are currently being bandied about for roles include Michael Fassbender, Adam Driver, Hugo Weaving, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B. Jordan, Jack O’Connell, Alex Pettyfer, Saoirse Ronan, and Sullivan Stapleton. These actors have reportedly been in meetings, and of course, nothing is official, but with a start date looming sometime in the near future, we’re willing to bet official news will hit very soon. Stay tuned…
