As we’ve reported here on TGD, the next Star Wars film, to be directed by JJ Abrams, is currently casting, and it has a December 18, 2015 release date. As a number of tent pole films are gearing up to start shooting next year, they’re all trying to nail down their casts as fast as possible so they can start shooting as soon as possible.
As the Hollywood Reporter tells us, casting is still going on for Star Wars in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Right now, they’re looking for “a tough-cookie girl,” age 17 to 18, “and a charismatic, funny guy from 19 to 23.” They also want a military guy in his 40s like Matt Damon in Elysium. As we’ve reported previously on TGD, they’re looking for unestablished actors that could become stars, and as one casting agent said, “We don’t want to leave any stone unturned.”
With Ant-Man, Paul Rudd is reportedly the front-runner right now, but they still need to cast Ant-Man’s girlfriend. No word yet on who could be the lucky woman. And with Terminator 5, the goal is cast the females before they cast the males. There’s hope Tom Hardy could play John Connor, although there’s no word as to who could play Reese. Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones, Brie Larson from The Spectacular Now, and Tatiana Maslany (Oprhan Black), have all been up to play Sarah Connor.
So to all those out there reading right now who think they have what it takes to perform in Star Wars, Terminator 5, and Ant Man, step on up. We’d love to see you on the silver screen in two years, so go for it.
