The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Gets the Green Light

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released on May 2, 2014, but there’s already plans for the third installment of the new model Spidey, along with the same writing team that created the second installment.

This isn’t that big of a surprise because superhero films should stay hot for at least several more years, and the studios usually want to plan them as trilogies, if not longer sagas. Both Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the same team that gave us the new Star Trek and Cowboys and Aliens, are going to write the third one, along with Jeff Pinkner. MTV.com informs us Pinker’s making his screenwriting debut with Spider-Man 2, and he’s also been a producer on Lost, Fringe, and Alias.

The first Spider-Man reboot also had three screenwriters, including two time Oscar winner Alvin Sargent, who also wrote the best Spider-Man in the series, Spider-Man 2, Steve Kloves (Harry Potter), and James Vanderbilt (ID Forever, the reboot of RoboCop).

Sony would ultimately like four movies in the Amazing Spider-Man series, and there’s been speculation that the next Spider-Man movie may involve the Sinister Six, or set them up for future installments. The current Spidey villains for number two are Electro and the Rhino, played by Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti respectively.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 already has a release date, June 10, 2016, and look for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on May 2, 2014.
