Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter says he believes Nintendo is currently in a “world of trouble.”
“By the time [it] did launch a console that stacks up really well [against PS3 and Xbox 360] the other two guys passed them by. [And now?] Publishers are pretty excited about supporting Xbox One and PS4. They really didn’t say anything about the Wii U,” Pachter told ABC News 10.

“We know EA has no games in development for Wii U [although it seems this could change]. If others follow suit – if you see Activision pulls support, if you see Ubisoft, you see Take-Two pull support the Wii U is a Nintendo-only gaming device which is the way they were back with the NES in 1985.”
As Pachter notes, Nintendo clearly won’t sell a lot of consoles if they don’t have games like FIFA, Battlefield, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto V.
“I think they are at the bottom of a huge mountain with a huge uphill climb. I don’t think they’re going to get that mojo back. With PS4 priced $50 more than the Wii U, why would anyone buy the Wii U unless they just HAVE to play Nintendo games?
“The way it shakes out is anyone who actually buys a Wii U really is a hardcore gamer and is going to buy a PS4 and Xbox One in addition so they can play those third party titles that they love. So I think Nintendo becomes a distant third in this console race,” he added.
