Veteran Hollywood director Albert Hughes is perhaps best known for co-directing the Denzel Washington science fiction/post-apocalyptic flick Book of Eli.
And now Crytek has confirmed that Albert Hughes will be directing a new video series to shadow the upcoming Crysis 3, which is slated to go live on February 19, 2013.
“When EA and Crytek approached me about being involved in creating ‘The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3’ video series, I liked the idea of creating emotional stories using only computer generated images,” explained Hughes.
“The challenge of producing something intensely human without ever seeing a human on screen was incredibly compelling, and the technology of the CryENGINE that Crytek developed enabled me to do that and venture into a completely unique medium of storytelling.”
According to Crytek, the video series will set the stage for Crysis 3 and introduce players to some of the visuals and dynamic environments they will be fighting in when the long-awaited game launches.
“The goal with ‘The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3’ video series is to reveal the incredible world we have been building for Crysis 3 and to let CryENGINE take center stage to highlight the power of our state-of-the-art game engine,” said company chief Cevat Yerli. “We’ve worked closely with Albert on this project and think that the 7 Wonders series will show the leaps and bounds that Crysis 3 is making over its predecessors.”
Crysis 3 runs on Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE and promises state-of-the-art graphics and dynamic shooter game play. Sure, you could probably write off similar statements from other developers, but Crysis has always been ahead of its time.
Crysis 3 puts players back into the nano boots of Prophet as he returns to New York and discovers the city is encased in a Nanodome created by the Cell Corporation. The 7 Wonders refers to the various environments inside the Liberty Dome.
