Miyamoto working on Wii U titles

Nintendo visionary Shigeru Miyamoto and fan favorite Retro Studios are hard at work on top-of-the-line Wii U games.

Retro Studios has had a close relationship with Nintendo for years, as the company behind the development of the Metroid Prime series as well as Donkey Kong Country Returns.

It’s rumored that the company is working on a high-intensity Zelda game for the Wii U.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime wouldn’t confirm those rumors, but in an interview on GameTrailers TV, he said, “Rest assured that Retro is working on a fantastic project.”

Fils-Aime also confirmed that Miyamoto and his team “are working on fantastic projects.”

So “fantastic” is the word of the day for the Nintendo executive. Unfortunately, he said more details likely wouldn’t be provided until E3 of next year. What everyone really wants to see is what Miyamoto is working on.

Miyamoto is of course best known as the creator of Mario, among many other projects including recent phenomena like Wii Fit. He has been a part of the fiber of Nintendo since before the days of the NES. So when he talks, people listen.

The Wii U launches on November 18. Pre-orders have already sold out throughout the country.
