The long-awaited Crysis 3 will boast a slick “Hunter Mode” that supports up to 16 players at one time.
During a demo at Gamescom 2012 in Germany, Crytek showcased the competitive game mode with two players in cloaked Nanosuits tasked with stalking and killing 14 CELL troopers before the clock ran down.
The Hunters – who wore nanosuits – were armed with a bow and arrow. Interestingly, every CELL trooper who dies was re-spawned as a Hunter.
Meaning, while the Hunters may be vastly outnumbered when the match kicks off, the tables are quickly turned after they eliminate a few troopers. The match concludes when all players end up on the Hunter team, or after the clock runs out.
Crysis 3 – set in 2074 – allows players to take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York and discovers the city’s been encased in a giant Nanodome built by the corrupt Cell Corporation.
An urban rainforest is growing within the dome, complete with dense swamplands, raging rivers, and seven distinct environments.
Crysis 3 is slated to launch this Spring for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC.
