Video: Batmobile documentary goes live at Comic-Con

Batman first drove his stalwart Batmobile in May of 1939, courtesy of Detective Comics #27.

Since then, the caped crusader’s vehicle – traditionally kept in the clandestine Batcave – has evolved along with the character in various comic books, television series and films.

And now Warner Bros. has uploaded a teaser trailer for “The Batmobile,” a documentary slated to be previewed tonight at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego.

For the rest of the geek masses, “The Batmobile” will officially air on Monday, July 16, 8:00-8:30pm ET on The CW, with a special encore scheduled 8:30-9:00pm ET.

The special is reportedly loaded with gigabytes of archival footage, images and illustrations of the Batmobile – tracking its birth and evolution to the slick vehicle seen in The Dark Knight Rises.

“The Batmobile” also features interviews with actors Christian Bale and Adam West, and directors Christopher Nolan, Joel Schumacher and Tim Burton.
