I’m a huge fan of science fiction films and the slick futuristic vehicles they often depict.
If you watched the sci-fi thriller District 9, you’re probably more than familiar with director Neill Blomkamp’s work. When District 9 was getting ready to hit theaters, Blomkamp headed to Comic-Con to answer questions and give fans an advanced look at the film.
Blomkamp is now doing the same thing for his latest project dubbed Elysium. The director certainly grabbed my attention when he placed a replica of the Bugatti spaceship used in the film in front of The Hard Rock Café. If you’re not a hardcore fan of exotic cars, you might not recognize the name Bugatti, but the auto manufacturer designs the Veyron, one of the fastest cars in the world.
Blomkamp, Matt Damon, and Jodie Foster will be on hand at Comic-Con to present a first look at some of the footage from Elysium in Hall H on Friday. Back to the cool Bugatti spaceship, this is the actual prop vehicle from the film and it looks really cool with the two-tone paint.
The film’s official synopsis is as follows:
“In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that, if successful, will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.”
