With Magic Mike hitting theaters around the country, you just know there’s tons of young women everywhere who are planning a girls night around the film.
I know quite a few already who can’t wait to see Channing Tatum dancing around in his underwear to “It’s Raining Men,” and the film is reportedly based on Tatum’s real life experiences as a male stripper.
So where do you go after making a movie like this? A Legos movie, of course.
There’s been a lot of reports about upcoming Legos big screen projects, and with the unprecedented success of The Avengers, as well as the long awaited release of The Dark Knight Rises, a Lego superhero flick makes perfect sense.
So as Cinema Blend and Variety report, there’s going to be Lego: The Piece of Resistance, which will feature live action and animated Lego superheroes.
The film will be helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who also made the popular children’s film Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, as well as the big screen version of 21 Jump Street. Tatum also starred in Jump Street, and they’d obviously like him to return to voice Superman. Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Ratatouille) will provide the voice of Lego Batman.
There’s plenty more Legos movies in the works, including a major, epic Lego flick in development at Warners that will be in 3D, as well as an adaptation of Lego’s Hero Factory at Universal.
As much as many may groan at toys being turned into films, we still think Lego movies could be a lot of fun for the whole family if they’re done right.
The Dark Knight is probably too scary for young, young kids, so why not a Lego Batman to help bridge the gap for the pre-school and kindergardeners? Just as long as there’s no Legos male strippers films, okay?
