Video: The Guardians of Middle Earth are coming

E3 2012 in Los Angeles is turning out to be quite the venue for fans of Middle Earth and all things Lord of the Rings (LOTR).

Earlier this morning we reported LEGO had taken the wraps off a video game that crosses the classic Tolkien-inspired movie trilogy with the popular toy series.

And now the E3 2012 debut trailer for Guardians of Middle Earth has gone live. The Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA), dubbed The Guardians of Middle Earth, will debut exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network this fall.

Developed by Monolith, the game allows players to fight in 5v5 matches with 20 characters, such as Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Sauron and Gollum. Several new playable guardians are expected to be released when Peter Jackson’s long-awaited Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theaters this December.

Guardians of Middle Earth also features an in-game voice communication system, access to an online stats and a leaderboard system.
