Here’s an early look at what to expect later this year.
Developed by Crytek, Crysis 3 is poised to become one of the biggest PC shooter games of 2013, and is expected to be a technological marvel. Crytek built its own engine, called CryENGINE, to power the game.
The experience will revolve around a character named “Prophet” who find himself in a futuristic, desecrated New York City. While exploring all that has happened to the city, players will need to hone their skills and become the best hunter on the planet.
Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli described the game earlier this month, saying, “Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love.”
“Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game,” Yerli continued.
While EA’s press release didn’t mention a release date, it did confirm that there will be a Crysis 3 Hunter Edition available for around $60.
And in what is just another entry in the story of digital distribution being everything these days, the special edition game doesn’t even come with any tangible content. It gives players a special Nanosuit module, an XP bonus feature, and exclusive customization options.
EA has also teamed up with various stores and retailers throughout the country. Customers who pre-order the game from a select retailer will also have the ability to score some free in-game content.
