Ubisoft has released its long-awaited trailer for Assassin’s Creed III, which is set during the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783).
The Revolution began as a conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen burgeoning colonies in North America, yet up ended as a global war between several European powers.
As previous rumors indicated, Assassin’s Creed III introduces a new hero by the name of Ratohnaké:ton, who is of Native American and English heritage. Adopting the name Connor, he becomes the new voice for justice in the ancient war between the Assassins and Templars.
In Assassin’s Creed III, players assume the role of a daring assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in a virtual world that spans the Revolutionary War – taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington’s Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army.
“Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. ”Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”
Assassin’s Creed III hits store shelves on October 31, 2012, for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U. The latest iteration of the franchise is powered by the AnvilNext engine, which Ubisoft says delivers “breakthroughs,” in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence.
