First trailer for Immortals released

From the look of this trailer, Immortals is going to be one to catch in the theatre.

The effects laden trailer released today gives us a close look at the bullet time and epic battle stunts which will mark the upcoming film. What we’ve got so far looks very impressive. I might even spring for a 3D ticket.

Okay, that’s not true. I won’t do that. For just a second, I was tempted, but I know that once I’m standing in line at the theatre looking at the price difference, I’ll just go for the 2D.

Immortals is an action-packed adaptation of the story of Theseus. In this version of the tale, the gods of Olympus are depicted like comicbook superheroes. They are, rather than mystical beings, just people with extraordinary powers, but who have sworn not to interfere in human affairs.

When one human king finds a weapon of great power, and threatens to conquer the entire world (not actually a very big place back then), the Olympians choose the human Theseus to be their champion in a fight they are forbidden to join.

The film starts Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill as Theseus and Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto as the Oracle who sees his true promise.

According to the Studio release “Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and producers Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter) unleash an epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and spectacular 3-D adventure. As a power-mad king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful.”

The film opens on November 11th this year, along-side about a million other things.
