It’s now officially 2015, so you know what that means. Everyone’s looking around to see what came true from Back to the Future 2.
There have been a number of stories like this in recent years, and Newsweek recently pointed out what has and hasn’t come to pass from the movie. Granted, flying cars brings too many logistics problems, and people are still desperate for a hoverboard, but they’re working on this.
Yet quite a bit came true from the movie as we know, and we’ve seen two things, Google Glass and drones capturing the news, come to pass in recent years, which is remarkable considering Back to the Future 2 came out over twenty-five years ago now.
It’s not easy to predict the future in a movie, and if you’re too far off, it will look very silly and dated as the years go by. Yet BTTF 2 has predicted quite a number of things that actually came to pass, and you often wonder how much the movie itself inspired this, or if these things were going to happen, you just had to look ahead to predict them. (Not to mention quite a few things on The Jetsons came to pass too, and it’s always fun to go back and see how prophetic something as silly as a cartoon can be.)
