Marvel Studios has officially revealed the plot for its upcoming Iron Man sequel.
The first trailer for Iron Man 3 will hit the web on Tuesday, but Marvel wanted to give fans a taste of that trailer a few days early thanks to a social media game that had players powering up Tony Stark’s armor.
Not too much to go on here. We can see Stark doing his celebrity thing, and the Iron Man suit flying around, which is certainly an expected part of the film. The only thing that seems a bit revealing is the clips of Pepper Pots, the film’s love interest, being held captive in some odd restraints, showing that rescuing the girl must be one of the new film’s subplots. We certainly can’t assume that there is anything that wont be in the film from its exclusion in this very short teaser.
The studio has also released this short-form synopsis:
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
So, it seems that a central conflict will be the destruction of Stark’s company and fortune. It’ll be interesting to watch the character brought down a few pegs, and ultimately made to be more humble. I wonder if we’ll see any genuine changes to the persona that will be reflected in future Marvel Film Universe projects.
