LEGO Batman 2 trailer shares the spotlight

The LEGO DC Heroes video game will arrive sooner than we thought.

Previous speculation among hardcore fans was that we would see a LEGO video game with the LEGO DC Heroes property, bringing the rest of the Justice League to LEGO – instead of just Batman – after the next LEGO Batman game, which had already been announced.

However, it is now abundantly clear that the next LEGO Batman game is one and the same as the LEGO DC Heroes title.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will be an open world adventure game, departing from the linear button mashers of the past franchise entries. Clever level design, ease of control, little player punishment, and light dialogue are the hallmarks of the LEGO games, and it looks like this one will continue that trend, with more characters to choose from and additional places to visit.

The only thing disappointing aspect of the trailer is the voice of The Joker, as any animated Joker needs to sound like Mark Hammil, or it just weirds me out.

The official description of the game is thus:

Batman and Robin return in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, the sequel to the best-selling LEGO videogame of all time, which to date has sold more than 11 million units worldwide. This time the Dynamic Duo join forces with other famous DC super heroes including Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern to stop the notorious villains Lex Luthor and The Joker from destroying Gotham City.  Batman fans of all ages will enjoy a new and original story filled with classic LEGO videogame action and humor as players fight to put the bad guys back behind bars.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes hits shelves on June 19th, 2012.
