DC has released a preview of its upcoming super hero comics line. World’s Finest follows the adventures of an alternate super hero team from Earth 2: Power Girl and Huntress.
Not much is known about the greater arc, but the cover seems to imply they are leaving Earth 2.
The line is joining the New 52 as an ongoing title in a move which sees several low-performing lines being replaced. Frankly, this is perfectly fine with me, as I certainly won’t miss any of the lost lines and Huntress just happens to be my second favorite DC hero.
The closest thing we have to a synopsis is this bit from a press release which describes the whole initiative.
This week, DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 launches its “Second Wave,” expanding the boundaries of the shared narrative and the scope of the universe. Further developing the bold concepts introduced back in September, the world-building efforts of DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 “Second Wave” include the new stories reaching around all the way the world and into parallel worlds.
The first week of new series showcases the breadth and depth of the what the “Second Wave” has to offer, including an introduction to the heroes and would-be heroes of an alternate Earth with EARTH 2 and WORLDS’ FINEST; a dark look at the psychological effects on an everyman who accidentally gains powers to become a hero in DIAL H; and the return of cult classic war series “The War That Time Forgot” and “The Unknown Solider” in G.I. COMBAT.
DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 introduced new takes on classic characters from the rich history of DC Comics – and with DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 “Second Wave,” we will explore how those heroes, anti-heroes and villains fit together in their shared narrative universe.
