A Los Angeles woman shot fellow Walmart shoppers with pepper spray as she fought to keep them from buying video games she apparently coveted.
20 people suffered minor injuries in the resulting melee.
”I heard screaming and I heard yelling. Moments later, my throat stung,” Matthew Lopez told the LA Times.
“I was coughing really bad and watering up. It was absolutely crazy. ”
Meanwhile, Alejandra Seminario said “the whole area filled up with pepper spray” after shoppers started screaming and pushing each other.
“I guess what triggered it was people started pulling the plastic off the pallets and then shoving and bombarding the display of games,” she explained.
“It started with people pushing and screaming because they were getting shoved onto the boxes… I did not want to get involved. I was too scared. I just stayed in the toy aisle.”
The LAPD is still attempting to locate the unidentified woman who, as police Lt. Abel Parga told The Associated Press, was “trying to use the [pepper spray] to gain an upper [shopping] hand.”
