LG opens world's largest LCD factory complex

Seoul (South Korea) – LG Philips has opened up a large LCD factory just north of Seoul, which has a ground floor area the size of six football fields – 307,000 square meters, making it the largest LCD plant in the world. The factory cost $5 billion to build, and should produce 90,000 42″ panels a month by the end of the year.

In addition to 42″ panels, the plant will also make 47″ panels. The finished plant is part of a larger 4.6 million square meter complex which LG hopes to complete by 2012.
