A very whiny Sony is accusing famed Playstation 3 hacker George Hotz of handing over two “nonfunctional” hard drives before flying off to South America.
“After Magistrate Judge Spero ordered an inspection of Hotz’s devices and ordered Hotz to appear at a deposition in California, SCEA learned that Hotz had deliberately removed integral components of his impounded hard drives prior to delivering them to a third party neutral,” the Japanese-based corporation claimed in a recently filed court document cited by PC Mag.
“[In addition], Hotz is now in South America, an excuse for why he will not immediately provide the components of his hard drives as requested by the neutral. Hotz’s attempts to dodge this Court’s authority raise very serious questions.”
However, Hotz attorney Stewart Kellar disputed Sony’s claims, while summarily dismissing complaints over his client’s whereabouts.
“They [just] didn’t have the controller card attached. That’s it,” Kellar told Wired, confirming that Hotz subsequently surrendered the allegedly critical components.
“[And] I don’t want to comment on that [travel] stuff. [But] he has done nothing to make himself unavailable.”
