Republican Speaker trashes FCC in anti-Net Neutrality tirade

Republican House Speaker John A. Boehner recently trashed the FCC in a virulent anti-Net Neutrality tirade before an audience of evangelical Christian media leaders.

According to Boehner, free expression is being mercilessly attacked by clueless bureaucrats in DC who have never even seen the inside of a radio station or television studio.

“We see the [manifestation of this] threat in how the FCC is creeping further into the free market by trying to regulate the Internet,” claimed Boehner.

“The last thing we need, in my view, is the FCC serving as Internet traffic controller, and potentially running roughshod over local broadcasters who have been serving their communities with free content for decades.”

Unsurprisingly, Boehner’s ideological rant was met with raucous applause from conference attendees.

Spurred on by the crowd, Boehner also took at aim against the controversial “Fairness Doctrine” which was repealed/eliminated in 1987, leading to a unrestrained tsunami of (mostly boring) AM talk radio programs.

“Our new majority is committed to seeing that the government does not reinstate the Fairness Doctrine… [We will] help keep the airwaves free.”
