It’s got to be the laziest, most minimal form of communication possible, but apparently a Facebook poke can count as harassment.
A woman has been arrested for poking another user of Facebook, after police decided it breached a protection order. While plenty of people have been convicted of online harassment before, this is believed to be the first time that a mere poke has caused so much trouble.
Shannon Jackson, 36, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, had been forbidden from telephoning, contacting “or otherwise communicating with” her distraught victim.
Local police obtained screen grabs of the other woman’s Facebook page as evidence, according to local paper The Tennessean, and will produce them in court.
Jackson could face a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500 if she is found guilty. She’ll appear in court later this month.
