Facebook pulls Obama death threat poll

The US Secret Service is trying to track down a group that created a Facebook poll asking ‘Should Obama be killed?’.

The poll – posted some time over the weekend – offered readers four possible answers to the question: ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘maybe’ and ‘if he cuts my healthcare’.

Facebook shut the poll down yesterday. “Once we found out about it, we worked with Facebook to have it removed,” Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley told AFP.

By the time the poll was taken down, more than 750 readers had cast votes. It’s not known how the votes broke down.

The poll was created using a third party application more usually employed to let users create light-hearted enquiries and quizzes. Facebook has now disabled the entire application.

Threatening the life of the president is a crime in the US.
