A congressional panel claimed that the Chinese government is expanding its cyberspying activities in the USA and has organized a campaign against one, unnamed US company.
But, the Wall Street Journal reports, that company was just one of many subject to a Chinese government sponsored cyberspying initiative.
Although the panel refused to specifically name the company that was targeted, it confirmed it was a high tech development company.
The report could not pinpoint who exactly is behind the cyber espionage but said that the attack was supported, if not organized by the Chinese government.
Larry Wortzel, vice chairman of the commission, said there was no doubt that the attacks were state controlled, with the purpose of penetrating defense technology.
