Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has debuted a mini-drone that provides real-time intelligence to infantry and armored units operating in urban areas.
Dubbed GHOST, the 9-pound (4 kg) unmanned platforms boasts an automatic vertical takeoff & landing system, twin rotary electrical engines and is capable of loitering for up to 30 minutes.
According to IAI, the GHOST is extremely simple to pilot, as the interface is based on “principles of computer games” and requires little training.
The entire system can be carried in backpacks by two soldiers and includes: two platforms, batteries, along with a command and control (C&C) unit.
The GHOST drone is designed to support both paramilitary and homeland security missions.
