Lulz Security has denied that a senior member of the hacking group was arrested by UK law enforcement officials.
“Seems the glorious leader of LulzSec got arrested, it’s all over now,” a LulzSec rep tweeted sarcastically.
“Wait… we’re all still here! Which poor bastard did they take down?”
A second tweet by an Anonymous rep on #AntiSec seemed to confirm the alleged senior member was little more than an IRC administrator for the swiftly sailing Lulz Boat.
“The good news everybody: Ryan has little to do with #LulzSec besides running IRC. All 6 members of @LulzSec are fine and safe.”
Interestingly enough, LulzSec also denied hacking and extracting UK census data.
“Just saw the pastebin of the UK census hack. That wasn’t us – don’t believe fake LulzSec releases unless we put out a tweet first. Anyone in the world can copy and paste The Lulz Boat ASCII art and general lighthearted theme. Smarten up, check the feed first,” the group cautioned.
“But hey, if someone out there hacked the UK government in the name of #AntiSec, well done sirs!”
However, the Lulz Boat did note that it was currently categorizing and formatting “leaked items” for their expected release via Twitter and The Pirate Bay.
In the meantime, a number of supporters from around the world have taken to the joint Anonymous-Lulz #AntiSec to publicly express their admiration of both entities.
“I get a tremendous amount of enjoyment out of watching the daring escapades of @LulzSec,” one supporter tweeted. “I really hope they’re never caught.”
Another Anon-Lulz fan termed the digital raids “mind boggling,” stating that “in 2 days, @LulzSec and #AntiSec have accomplished more than other ‘revolutionary’ groups have accomplished in years.”
