Sure, we’ve all heard the Silicon Valley rumors, but is Steve Jobs really a control freak? Well, Adidas – which recently pulled a $10 million mobile iAd campaign – certainly seems to think so.
Indeed, according to Dan Frommer of BusinessInsider, the athletic apparel giant decided to cancel a potentially lucrative deal with Apple because the venerable Jobs was “being too much of a control freak.”
“One industry exec [told us] Adidas canceled its iAds after Apple rejected its creative concept for the third time,” wrote Frommer.
“[Unsurprisingly], Apple has taken more control over iAds than any other program in the industry, including making the actual ads themselves.
“[So, as expected], this has contributed to a very slow rollout of iAds.”
Frommer also noted that a number of advertisers have loudly complained about the salient “lack of visibility and control” over where their respective ads appear.
“[Sure], Apple [ostensibly] plans to open up the process once it’s more comfortable with the program.
“[But], it [seems as if] some [of the] advertisers have [already] lost their patience [with Steve Jobs and his overly-walled garden],” he added.
