A 39-year-old Florida mother has been arrested for child abuse after police identified the woman cheering on her teenage daughter during a prearranged fight that was filmed and uploaded to YouTube.
According to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office affidavit obtained by the Smoking Gun, April Newcomb can be seen on multiple videos “encouraging” her daughter “to physically fight” with another girl.
However, when questioned by the authorities, Newcomb claimed that she had only attended the fight between the two 16-year-olds to ensure that “nothing got out of hand,” explaining that her daughter had “sustained a [serious] skull fracture” from a previous incident two years ago.
“Of course, we were both wrong and I understand that,” an apologetic Newcomb allegedly told police.
“[And yes], I understand where ya’ll are coming from.”
