Chicago (IL) – T-Mobile said that it plans to launch the successor to its G1 Android smartphone in early summer.
The confirmation came via an email received by Reuters. “T-Mobile is planning to offer the follow-on device to the T-Mobile G1 early this summer,” the carrier said, but declined to provide further details. At least for now, we will have to wait and see if the launch of the phone can coincide with the availability of Android 1.5, which will bring an on-screen keyboard, video recording capability, stereo Bluetooth support and a number of under new features running on a new Linux kernel (2.6.27).
Apple is expected to introduce at least one new iPhone on June 8, while Palm will launch its Palm Pre on June 6.
