Processors manufactured by Chinese chip designer Infotmic have tipped up in a number of tablets in recent weeks.
Specifically, devices powered the company’s iMAPx800 and iMAPx15 SoC’s are starting to hit the streets in China. The chips are built around the ARM Cortex-A5 and paired with ARM Mali 400 graphics.
As Liliputing’s Brad Linder notes, while Infotmic isn’t trying to compete with Samsung (Exynos), Qualcomm (Snapdragon) or Nvidia (Tegra) in terms of raw horsepower, the company is intent on offering reasonable performance at a relatively low price points.
To be sure, MIC Gadget lists a few tablets powered by Infotmic chips, while AliExpress is showing Infotmic-equipped tablets with prices ranging from as low as $60 to as high as $200.
Most are loaded with a capacitive touchscreen display, HDMI output and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).
