Google has announced the $399 Nexus 10, a 10.1-inch device that will likely become Mountain View’s flagship tablet as it attempts to take on Apple’s iPad.
According to Google’s Andy Rubin, the Nexus 10 boasts a 2,560 x 1,600, 300 ppi display and is capable of rendering 9 hours of video playback as well as 500 hours of standby on a single charge.
Additional specs include Samsung’s Cortex A15-based Exynos 5 clocked at 1.7 GHz, a quad-core Mali-T604 GPU, front-facing stereo speakers, front and rear cameras, NFC, 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, 2GB RAM and yes, the long-awaited Android 4.2. Plus, Nexus 10 owners can also add multiple users and instantly switch between them right from the lockscreen.
”We believe that everyone should have quick and easy access to their own [data and settings] — email, apps, bookmarks, and more,” said Rubin. “That way, everyone can have their own home screens, their own music, and even their own high scores.”
Pricing for the 16GB iteration is set at $399 while the 32GB version carries a $499 price tag. Both devices will be available for sale on November 13th.
Meanwhile, Google has also revamped its Nexus 7 tablet lineup, with the 16GB Nexus 7 tablet priced at $199 and the 32GB iteration weighing in at $249. An unlocked HSPA+ cellular model is slated to hit the streets on November 13th for a cool $299.
