Capcom is showcasing a new trailer for its upcoming Lost Planet 3 third-person shooter at Gamescom 2012 in Germany.
The video showcases protagonist Jim Peyton on hostile icy terrain as he battles monsters on foot and inside a mechanical rig, all while trying to unravel the secrets of the planet which seem intertwined with a wider corporate conspiracy.
The latest iteration of the franchise is actually a prequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Lost Planet 2. The game is set on the same planet of E.D.N. III – but obviously well before the events of the first two installments.
Capcom reps say the Lost Planet 3 adopts more of a story-driven narrative approach to the campaign, similar to the first game in the series.
However, unlike Lost Planet I and II, LP3 is being developed externally by Spark Unlimited. Nevertheless, series creator Kenji Oguro, is still game director.
Lost Planet 3 goes live sometime in 2013 for the Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 3 and Windows PC.
