I think many fans of mobile gaming would agree that playing Android titles like Angry Birds on a large-screen TV instead of a tablet with a relatively small display is definitely a worthwhile experience.
As you probably know, there are already several devices on the market that allow users to stream content from smartphones or tablets to big-screen TVs. In fact, many Android devices are equipped with an HDMI to make the process even easier.
However, if you don’t want to use a phone or tablet and prefer something that can stay connected to your TV all the time, you might want to check out a new device dubbed Mini X.
The little box runs Android (out of the box) and plugs directly in to your TV – allowing apps to run directly on the big-screen. Oh, and you can also run Linux, something your smartphone can’t do (yet).
The Minix X is powered by an Allwinner A10 processor – which is capable of running Android (2.3, 4.0), Ubuntu, Fedora, and Puppy flavors of Linux.
The little box will set you back about $99 and is available now with a one-year warranty. Other than the above-mentioned processor, Mini X is loaded with 512 MB RAM, 4 GB integrated storage, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, dual USB ports, integrated Wi-Fi, and an HDMI output.
The box also supports an external antenna and a wireless remote control with Android specific buttons for apps, including home, menu, app drawer, search and back buttons.
