This July, geek ecstasy is about to hit critical mass with two enormous events. The last Christopher Nolan-Christian Bale Batman is three weeks away, and Comic-Con 2012 kicks off next week in San Diego.
We recently listed some of the cool events you can catch at the Con, but of course we only just scratched the surface.
The Wrap also detailed its “20 Reasons To Go,” including the R.I.P. Ray Bradbury panel, where Margaret Atwood, Joe Hill, Sam Weller and Mort Castle will praise the late, great storyteller; Stan Lee Comes to YouTube, where Stan the man will unveil his own YouTube channel; a Disney panel with Tim Burton, Sam Raimi, John C. Reilly, and Sarah Silverman featuring Frankenweenie, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Wreck-It-Ralph; Larry King interviewing Optimus Prime (!); and panels about the Walking Dead, Resident Evil and The Hobbit.
So you want to go to Comic-Con? So does everyone else on earth, except the event sold out in about ten seconds. Still, where there’s a will there’s a way, right? And yes, there are a few ways for you to possibly get in, or close to it, even this late in the game.
The Wrap also just ran a story titled, “Want to Catch Comic-Con? Here’s How.” And as writer Suzette Valle tells us, you better move fast to try and get in, already one contest has closed, but there’s also a Disney Frankenweenie contest, Sony is offering tickets via Facebook), Fearnet.com is having an invitation only party, VH1 Classic is hosting a nearby party that’s free for all attendees, and Petco Park is offering tickets where you can be a either “a Survivor, Walker or Spectator” for their Walking Dead Escape event.
Comic-Con has become such an insanely popular event, and it’s just not easy to get in, especially if you didn’t apply for your badges early. But to those who are still willing to try, we absolutely wish you luck, and hope you can find a loose brick in the wall you can squeeze through to enter geek nirvana.
